Cost
Below is a guide to my fees for piano maintenance.. Provided the piano has been tuned within a year or two ,it is a fairly straightforward procedure ,that takes me about 1.5-2 hours to complete.
Standard piano tuning service ~ $150 – $180 depending on time it takes me to get it right. If it is going to be any more than this , I will quote before starting the job though if a string unavoidably happens to break on tuning it will cost ~$10-$50 extra depending on the string guage,bass/treble.
My service involves tuning by ear, allowing extra time if need to go over it a second time, and for minor regulation, voicing, small repairs, pedal tightening, keys and cabinet cleaning that is often required.
* If you are in a rural area it may cost a bit more to cover my travel. I like to share this cost across clients if possible , so to line up a few in the area works out cheaper.
* Such a piano properly serviced on at least a regular annual basis keeps its tuning stability, regulation and tone a lot better that one that is infrequently looked at.
* Discount for 6 month regular tuning or when 2 or more pianos are to be tuned at the same location.
Major Service ( Quote on inspection) A piano which has been left a few years without proper servicing will likely need a series of tunings to bring back to pitch, action tightening and regulation as well as hammer refacing/voicing. A simple tuning only will not achieve much as the tone of the instrument needs to be addressed to really create a nice sound, together with action adjustments, and possibly some new felts etc , to achieve the touch to control it..If it is a piano of good quality, and structurally is in good condition , then it could be well worth it ,and cheaper than buying a new piano , but if it is really old and worn out , I will advise not to bother with anything other than a palliative care approach, and advise options for a replacement.
Payment options-Cheque Cash or EFT Transfer
* 30 days account for business clients
* Students and pensioners may pay in 2 instalments.
Tuning guarantee- Sometimes pianos do shift a little after tuning, and need an extra check over tuning. If this happens fairly quickly (say within a month),I am happy to return and rectify things , at no cost or at least work out why your piano is not stabilizing.
